What is XG Mobile?

XG Mobile is an external graphics processing unit (eGPU) designed and manufactured by ASUS as an accessory for their gaming laptops, particularly the ROG (Republic of Gamers) line. It provides a portable way to dramatically increase graphics computing power, enabling thin-and-light gaming laptops to achieve desktop-level performance for demanding games and professional applications.

Thunderbolt 3 Connection

XG Mobile connects to compatible ASUS laptops via Thunderbolt 3, a high-speed interface capable of transferring data at up to 40 Gbps. This bandwidth is sufficient to deliver the graphics-intensive workloads from the eGPU to the laptop's display without significant performance bottlenecking. The Thunderbolt 3 connection also provides power to the external GPU module.
